Playa Avellanas

Playa Avellanas is an experienced surfer's dream, with excellent offshore waves drawing thrill seekers from around the world. Avellanas is one of the most beautiful beaches of the Tamarindo area. There is nothing but pristine beach wilderness with ancient trees providing shade, backed by scrub, marsh land and pastures. Some stretches are rocky where you find tide pools, other parts have fine white sand creating breathtaking turquoise water.

Avellanas has some of Costa Rica's best stretches for surfing, which draws surfers from all over the world. The most famous resident of Playa Avellanas is Lola; an 800 lb pig who greets visitors at the beach bar or in the shallow waves by the beach's edge. Be sure to take your camera.

You are coming down to Costa Rica to surf, so let us take you to the best waves possible. We will take you surfing either by van, boat, Jeep, or even ATV, whatever it takes to get you to the best possible waves.

All our tours are accompanied by an experience, friendly guide, whether its Bill with 30 years of long board experience, Jonathan the former Top Ten Pro Surfer, or Ben the Ripper from Florida, they will travel with you, surf with you, and have a beer with you.

You can surf the main breaks of Tamarindo, Playa Grande, Playa Avellanas, Witch’s Rock Ollie’s Point, Langosta, Playa Negra and maybe a few “secret” spots.
